Here's some useless graphs about the temperature and humidity of the apartment over the course of the day, week, month, and year as reported by a Govee BLE Temperature and humidity sensor. It's a rollercoaster ride, no?
- Govee BT Temp Logger (Github) : The software used to harvest the temperature and humidity data from a...
- Govee (Amazon) : BLE temperature and humidity monitor. Doesn't work with Google Home but is compatible with..
- Home Assistant (Not Amazon) : Open source home automation software.
Some other smart home things:
- SwitchBot (Amazon) : retrofit smart lock. Home assistant compatible. Works with Google Home.
- Levoit 200s (Amazon) : Smart HEPA air purifier. I'm not sure if they are comaptible with Home Assistant. Works with Google Home.
- Shark R-RV2310 (Amazon) : Robot Vacuum. It sucks... and well, that's a good thing for a vacuum! There's a plugin for it for Home Assistant but it is currently not working for me. Works with Google Home.
- Keurig K-Supreme (Amazon) : Smart single-cup coffee maker... I don't really use the smart features.. it does work with Google home... not sure about Home Assistant
- Globe Electric smart plug (Amazon) : If you plug your glade scented oil warmers into these, you can set a schedule for them to run and have them cycle for 30 minutes every 30 minutes. Glade oil warmers with 6 refills (2 warmers) $25. you can get a pack of 7 refills for $17. if your warmers are scheduled for 8am-5pm while cycling 30m every 30m, they run for 4.5h a day. with 1 package of 2 warmers and 6 refills, plus an additional package of 7 refills they will last over 4.3 years with one extra refill that will last an additional 266 days for 1 warmer. About $42 for 4.3 years of pleasant scents providing they don't evaporate or spoil somehow over the course of 266 days. If they were on 24/7, it would cost $195 to keep them going for 1900 days (5.2 years) with 1 pack of warmers+refills + 35 packs of 7 refills.. compared with 1733 days (4.74 years) with one pack of warmers+refill + 1 pack of 7 refills. ($58 initial investment for 2 warmers + refills and plugs, $100 for 4 warmers and refills and plugs that will last 4.74 years..the plugs will last longer, $34 for 2 packs of refills about every 2.5 years.) (if you had to buy in incrments of packs of 7 refills) Additionally $16 for the plugs... the plugs are a 4 pack.. $390 vs. $84 for 4 warmers for around 5 years. Also, if you've ever been around a candle or scented oil for an extended period of time, you know that you will eventually adapt to the scent and forget about it. I'm thinking cycling and scheduling will curb that effect. People with busier schedules will likely spend less. If you only get the plugs and 4 warmers that come with 3 refills each and the plugs: they'll last 2.1 years (running from 8-5 only on weekdays with cycling) for $66. I tried to calculate being at work from 9-5, going to bed at 10, and 14 hours every day of the weekend... the one pack of warmers with included refills said over 11 years. I'm not sure I calculated it right.. or any of this really. :) Surely the oil would spoil before 11 years.. I spent most of the day on this...eventually i had to get some paper...and today is opposite day.. i should be celebrating.
